When to Replace

A failed starter solenoid can cause a no-crank condition, a click without starter engagement, intermittent starting, or no voltage reaching the starter. Common causes include worn contacts, corrosion, a weak connection, overload, or a short circuit. Inspect the battery, cables, terminals, and wiring before replacing the solenoid.

Installation Tips

• Disconnect the battery negative terminal before servicing to reduce the risk of an accidental short circuit.
• Photograph or label the wiring before removal and follow the tractor wiring diagram during installation.
• Match the two top stud connections and two bottom spade connections to the original layout. Incorrect wiring or reverse polarity can damage the component.
• Clean and tighten all connections. Poor connections, overload, and short circuits can cause premature failure.
